So many Mother’s Day goodies in the shop right now. We are loving Gwyneth’s Carrot-Ginger salad dressing and swooning over the art direction of her latest gem. Coyuchi does make the best waffle robes and we’ve just gotten a new shipment of all sorts of goodies. So sweet these notes from Sugarboo. Seriously, I cannot spend too much time on the sales floor. I’ll end up with a new wardrobe, some new turkish bath towels (perfect for the beach!) and of course, a necklace I must have. Why? Well, ahem… I am a Mom. I deserve a treat.

1. “It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good And Feel Great.” by Gwyneth Paltrow | 2. Rustic Waffle Robe by Coyuchi | 3. 100 Gathered Thoughts For My Beautiful Child by Sugarboo Designs | 4. Body Lotion, Perfume Oil, and Bath Bubbles by Kai | 5. I Love You Mom Sparkle Karma Necklace by Dogeared | 6. “You’re Awesome” greeting card by Sugar Paper | All items available at Firefly

We’ve been crafting fools at Firefly. Will you look at the amazing installation we just put in the window? I am truly so proud of this.
Ojo de Dios is Spanish for “Eye of God.” It is pronounced “oh-ho-day-dee-ohs” (which is really just fun to phonetically spell out if you ask me). God’s Eyes were discovered by Spaniards when they encountered the Huichol Indians in the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico.
The Huichol Indians made these to be placed on altars so that their gods would protect and watch over those who prayed at the altars. The Ojo de Dios is a symbol of the power of seeing and understanding unseen things. The four points of the crossed sticks represent earth, air, water, and fire. Oftentimes, God’s Eyes were made for children expressing that they would be watched over. Each year another layer of yarn would be added until they reached the age of five.
To me, they are just something magical I remember from my own childhood during Arts and Crafts in the summertime – my favorite.
Do come by to see it in all its glory!

Oh, man. We were so excited when the amazing folks at Yellow Owl Workshop came out with their Carve-A-Stamp Kit! We’ve been looking for an excuse to open one of these up and try it out for ourselves. Not only is it a cinch and so fun, but the results were exactly what we wanted. We wanted to do a little crafty signage for Firefly as so many customers were asking if we were on Instagram and such. We had some alphabet stamps to use for letters, but needed the icon buttons. I’m telling you. You simply transfer the image in a snap and carve away. We are addicted. Come in and get one for yourself today!

New York might be the city that never sleeps, but Los Angeles is the city that never stops playing. Due to traffic considerations, sometimes that means that we don’t get a chance to go home between morning dates and going out that evening…which means either making our cars into a second closet (downside: hampered rearview visibility), or choosing an outfit that easily makes the transition from morning to night.
An easy outfit to choose? One with details, so you can dress up when the sun goes down – like this beaded tank by Free People. It’ll take you from your morning coffee to your happy hour drinks, and goes with anything from jean shorts to work pants (think: beach day to office). And for only $118, it doesn’t break the bank!
Excuse me a minute, I think I have to run to the dressing room…

One of my favorite misheard song lyrics was a friend of mine who thought the Corrs were singing, in their classic hit “Leave Me Breathless”, “leave me breakfast”. Which I liked so much more – after all, when shouldn’t you get breakfast in bed?
Maybe these french toast stamps, from Fred & Friends, will help remind them.
