Pizza Fest

Every other Wednesday we get a delivery of locally sourced, organic goods from our friends at the Venice Merchant.  Be sure to check out their recipes on their site.  Recently they teamed up with Pitfire Pizza and now you can get fresh pizza dough at home.  We can be seen at Pitfire more often than we’d like to admit and get it delivered all the time.  I could probably recite their entire menu if given the challenge.  I am pretty obsessed with their Tuscan bean soup and kale salad (and pasta and pizza, naturally).  Mia loves to be in the kitchen and we figured we saved about an hour having the dough already prepped.  Mia, you are a champ!  Dinner was delicious and Mom got to spend a little extra time at Firefly.

Mama Love

So many Mother’s Day goodies in the shop right now. We are loving Gwyneth’s Carrot-Ginger salad dressing and swooning over the art direction of her latest gem. Coyuchi does make the best waffle robes and we’ve just gotten a new shipment of all sorts of goodies.  So sweet these notes from Sugarboo.  Seriously, I cannot spend too much time on the sales floor.  I’ll end up with a new wardrobe, some new turkish bath towels (perfect for the beach!) and of course, a necklace I must have.  Why?  Well, ahem… I am a Mom.  I deserve a treat.

Voluspa

Voluspa seems to get it right every time they launch a new collection.  We’ve just unpacked their most glorious 50s inspired collection at Firefly.  The beaded glass feels very romantic, and I personally can’t wait to burn mine down and reuse the vase with a nice floral arrangement from the farmer’s market.

Easter Brunch

It’s getting down to the chicken wire here, and I’ve just returned from the market with eggs to dye and baskets to fill with assorted goodies.  Easter brunch is in order and here are some of the things I’ve picked up from Firefly to help make the day.  I’m thinking of framing the menu for a little added flair like the folks from Bread+Water do and using pink accents throughout.  I’m trying to embrace the love of pink happening at our house right now with a certain almost three year old running about. A wise man once said, “If you can’t get out of it, get into it.”  Mia’s helping make the place cards using Yellow Owl Workshop’s Farm Stamp Set and of course, what is Easter Brunch without a nice glass of vino kept cold with the best looking and most useful Corkcicle?  I’ve been trying to come up with an excuse to buy this.  Why Easter brunch, of course.  Happy Easter Bunny!

All of these items can be found at Firefly.  Clockwise from top left:  I Love You Egg Shaper by Accoutrements, Chicken and Egg: A Memoir of Suburban Homesteading with 125 Recipes, 4×6 ikat frame, Large napkin in pink and windowpane by Auntie Oti, Pink Rabbit card by Banquet Atelier, Farm Stamp Set by Yellow Owl Workshop and Pink Corkcicle.

Raise Your Glass to the…405?

Every Angeleno is an automatic member of a special club called “LA Traffic is Worse Than A Bad Haircut”. Granted, the hour drive from the beach cities to Hollywood is a great time to try out your new iTunes library. All 582 songs. And sure, sitting in the parking lot on the 405 gives us time to catch up with friends and family at home. Or on the freeway behind us.

Why not celebrate our shared misery instead of complaining about it? These adorable shot glasses by Sisters of Los Angeles (SOLA Ltd.) do just that, giving shout-outs to the 5, the 10, the 101, and the 405. Raise a glass with the freeway you hate the most, and cheers!

Leave Me Breakfast

One of my favorite misheard song lyrics was a friend of mine who thought the Corrs were singing, in their classic hit “Leave Me Breathless”, “leave me breakfast”. Which I liked so much more – after all, when shouldn’t you get breakfast in bed?

Maybe these french toast stamps, from Fred & Friends, will help remind them.

Thief Prevention 101

Dear Neighbors,

I hope you won’t take this personally, but seeing as my roommates and I can’t really afford a guard dog or alarm system right now, this seemed like a happy alternative for all involved. I mean, I’ve got my shoe collection to think of here! Don’t worry, I’m SURE no one will actually take this door mat by Reed Wilson Design seriously…

…but might I suggest taking a quick look at this list of badass guard dogs?

Sincerely,

Nora
